Not only was it a succesful evening for Varsfontein Stud at the Highveld awards ceremony but it also was a prestigious moment for our resident sire, Judpot. The Judpot gelding, Coral Fever, walked away with the Highveld “Horse Of The Season” award as well as champion Older Horse and Champion Middle Distance horse. Varsfontein was once again awarded champion breeder for the Highveld season. Although Varsfontein breds were not always in the winners box, we raked in the stakes with places in many of the season’s graded races including Surcharge’s 2nd places in the Gr 1 SA Derby, Gr 1 SA Classic and Gr 2 Gauteng Guineas and Green Top’s 2nd place in the Gr 1 SA Fillies Classic. Other top performers bred by Varsfontein were Ghaala, Green Pepper, Silver Thursday and Bi Pot.
