Following last week-ends stakes success at Turffontein, Varsfontein enjoyed another triumphant week-end on the 5th and 6th of April.


On Saturday TOUCH THE SKY won the Listed Oaks Trial in a brilliant fashion. Racing in the red and white colours of Varsfontein, she was purchased at the 2012 Cape Premier Sale and has a blue blood pedigree any stud would dream to have in their broodmare band. Read more…


Touch The Sky as a yearling


On Sunday at Clairwood the Varsfontein bred, GREAT RUMPUS, won the Listed Easter Handicap. The Black Minnaloushe colt continues a strong winning streak for his sire. His dam, Princess Polly, is also from a family in good form. She herself has already produced a GR 1 winner in Master Plan. Her half sister, Perfect Polly is the dam of Equus Champion Along Came Polly. Princess Polly’s Judpot yearling filly will not grace any sale this year as she will race for Varsfontein. Read more…

Besides the two wins, the filly Littleblacknumber ran second in the Gr 3 Strelitzia Stakes also at Clairwood on Sunday. Also by Black Minnaloushe, this filly was bred and raised on Varsfontein and was later sold at the 2013 National Yearling Sale.
