PEDIGREE BOOST FOR JUDPOT

by | May 14, 2014

Varsfontein Stud’s leading young stallion Judpot is from one of the best families in the stud book. This pedigree has received an extra boost when a relative of Judpot, Karakontie, won the French 2000 Guineas.

A son of dual champion US sire A P Indy (whose grandson Tapit is currently leading the North American general sires log), Judpot’s is out of champion race mare Miesque, who won 10 Grade One races during her stellar career.

Judpot’s siblings include the French classic winners East Of The Moon (French 1000 Guineas, French Oaks) and Kingmambo (French 2000 Guineas), as well as successful sire Miesque’s Son.

Recently Judpot acquired yet another French classic winning relative – Karakontie, who was victorious in Sunday’s Group One French 2000 Guineas (Poule D’Essai Des Poulains).

Karakontie, who has now won four of six outings and is a dual Group One winner, is a son of Bernstein and the Sunday Silence mare Sun Is Up – a granddaughter of Judpot’s dam, Miesque.

South Africa’s Equus Outstanding Stallion last season, Judpot’s first crop stakes horses include the Gr1 performers Forest Indigo, Mister Cricket and champion filly, Along Came Polly.
