Cape Breeders Club article: Varsfontein Stud’s well established sire Judpot was once again in the headlines at Turffontein on Saturday.
Just days earlier, Judpot’s close relative Real Steel had made world news when he won the G1 Dubai Turf and this time Judpot himself was in the news thanks to his daughter Juxtapose.
The latter, bred by Varsfontein, became her sire’s third Grade One winner (Juxtapose was preceded by Along Came Polly and Forest Indigo) when she ran on strongly to land the spoils in Saturday’s G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic, over a field which included the three of the first four home in the recent G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.
Now a three time winner, with 3 placings, from just seven outings, the Stanley Ferreira trained Juxtapose has now banked over R800 000 with the promise of plenty more to come.
Juxtapose, herself a R130 000 buy from the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale and bred on the world famous A P Indy/Mr Prospector cross, has a Var half brother on offer at the National Yearling Sale later this month.
Her sire Judpot (A P Indy –Miesque) is enjoying another tremendous season in 2015-2016, with his representatives this season including G2 Supreme Cup winner and millionaire Deputy Jud, Listed Lady’s Pendant heroine Double Whammy, and multiple stakes winning filly Little Genie.
A former Equus Outstanding Stallion, Judpot currently ranks as South Africa’s ninth leading sire (7th active sire), by stakes, with Judpot’s progeny having already earned over R6.4 million this season.
Kingmambo’s half brother is strongly represented at both the Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and National Yearling Sale, with Judpot’s Select draft of five include a filly out of a stakes winning daughter of champion sire Jallad from the family of Judpot champion Along Came Polly (Lot 24), a colt (like Along Came Polly out of a Model Man mare) out of a stakes winning own sister to a G1 SA Nursery winner (Lot 137), and a filly out of a winning Silvano half sister to top sprinters August Rush and Miss October (Lot 155).
Judpot’s National Sales 22 strong draft includes a filly whose G2 winning dam is a half sister to a champion (Lot 59), a half brother to recent stakes winner Mambonick (Lot 131), a colt whose stakes winning dam is a half sister to G2 winner and popular young sire Master Of My Fate (Lot 171), a half sister to the talented Bull Valley (Lot 348), and a filly from Judpot’s own family (Lot 440).
