JUDPOT STARS ON CLASSIC DAY

by | Apr 2, 2014

Article on gavel House by Sarah Whitelaw – Varsfontein Stud’s promising young stallion Judpot enjoyed a great day at Turffontein on Saturday.

Judpot’s son Mister Cricket ran second in the Gr1 SA Classic, while Judpot daughter, Along Came Polly finished in the same position in the Gr1 SA Fillies Classic.

In the Gr3 Man O’War Stakes, on the same day, yet another of Judpot’s offspring, Aurum Pot, was beaten the shortest of short heads into second in the Gr3 Man O’War Stakes.

All three horses look set to enjoy feature race success this season – and Judpot has certainly got a very strong hand representing him in 2014.

South Africa’s Equus Outstanding Stallion of last season, Judpot (A P Indy – Miesque) has made a stunning start to his stud career.

Kingmambo’s half brother has no fewer than six stakes horses in his first crop – including an Equus Champion.

Judpot’s second crop includes the promising and impressive debut winner Just Lucky, with a number of well-bred juveniles yet to grace the track.

He has 24 yearlings on offer at the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale – including a filly out of Gr1 winner Duchess Daba, a half-brother to world class sprinter Tiza, and a half-sister to classy sprinter Garibondy.
